Brading Town Trust

What it does for the town and how....

Welcome to Brading (Isle of Wight) Town Trust’s website. The Trust came into being in 1898 when nine prominent business men were elected to administer the affairs of the Borough property after the corporation of Brading was abolished in 1886 under the Municipal Corporation Act of 1883.

The trust is a registered charity and are constituted under the Charity Commissioners to

whom the Trustees are ultimately accountable. The charitable aims are to assist local organisations by giving grants where necessary. Upkeep of the trust's buildings and land for use of local people in perpetuity by providing facilities for local people and organisations to function.

The Trust’s looks after the following on behalf of the town - the New Town Hall, the Old Town

Hall, the Car Park, the Beech Grove fields, the Pound (and adjacent land) and the town’s archives and artefacts.

Natural Beauty

As well as historical interest, Brading is a hub for wildlife enthusiasts using the Brading marshes RSPB centre. The Brading Downs provides beautiful vistas of the Isle of Wight.
